Cranberry Fest

WARRENS, WI Cranberry Fest 2008

Harvesting Cranberries, which I thought grew in water... but Michael informed me that cranberries don't actually grow in the water. They grow in a bog, which is somewhere between dry land and a swamp in terms solidity. Because the bog is not solid enough to support machinery, and the fact that cranberries float, the bog is flooded for the harvest.

...

(He is his father's son!)
Cranberries are really good for you, and Wisconsin's economy!

A view of a few of the people at the festival.....

Warrens WI Hosts a Cranberry Festival the last weekend in September every year. It started in 1973 with 3,500 people in attendance. It has grown to where 110,000 people attended the 3 day festival last year.

Mark and I went to Warrens yesterday to see what the festival was like. There were at least 50,000 people there, and many of them had carts, or walkers or strollers... and they were all shopping and eating. There were more than 1250 booths, and 3 miles of booth frontage.

For more information on the festival go to http://www.cranfest.com/

If anyone wants to go next year let me know... but make sure your in good shape! I pooped out before I saw everything! Another sign I am getting old......

Bats and Such

Not a whole lot has been going on here in Camelot.... we did have a visitor at our door on Sunday...Ms or Mr. Bat was at the back door... shaking. When Mark went to move her, she flew away. We think she was asleep in the patio umbrella and when Mark opened it up, she must have fallen out and was lying on the deck sort of stunned. Needless to say we decided to have lunch inside instead of on the deck.

Stella as been very clingy lately... sitting on my lap and following me everywhere. Here we are reading together.
She also enjoys cross stitch and working on the lap top. Her favorite TV shows are ones with barking dogs and doorbells.....

I have sighted the pan in pink.... in both camouflage and purple, but I haven't had a chance to get a picture. He wears the bunny ears everywhere!

Man in Pink

A couple of weeks ago I was driving down Main Street in Friendship and I thought I saw a man walking down the street in pink underwear, wearing bunny ears. I did a double take, looked over my shoulder, and sure enough there was a man wearing pink underwear and bunny ears walking down the street. Then a few days later, I saw him again, this time wearing Hot Pink or Fushia underwear, bunny ears and carrying an umbrella (which made perfect sense because it was raining.) But darn, I didn't have my camera with me. I did tell several people about this man, but no one else seemed to have seen him. So today when I saw him, and he had a really nice set of underwear on today, I stopped and took a fast picture. I am really sorry the picture isn't clearer.. but if I see him again I will be sure and try for another shot.

Dog Days

We seem to be just past the dog days of summer..

The weather is cooler... kids are back in school, and the lake traffic has come to an almost complete halt.

Here are pictures of some dogs... the first is Kuhnz's new puppy, Gigi

And this of course is Sally, my friend and constant companion....

Stells.. who occassionally sits so pretty,

but most of the time runs and enjoys life to the fullest.

Moving Day!

Moving the Washing Machine and Dryer was the highlight of the day! Thank God for Marshall, Annie's very strong, very funny friend, who helped with the move!

Taking a break.... although the couch does look good here!

Here we are having lunch in the new house.

It is always a good time moving Annie in August....that must be why we do it every year!

Annie found many of her old treasures in the boxes we brought her, including her Easter Bonnet, which she is modeling here.
