Guatemala Mission Trip Part One

Of course, anyone who knows me, knows I took way too many pictures! And yes many were taken from a moving vechile... so here are just a few from the Emmaus Team's first days in Guatemala.
On our arrival there wasn't anyone from Food For the Hungry to meet us, but these gentlemen were most helpful... and Mark suggested we share our chocolate chip cookies with them... and they were pleased. Apparently Cookie is the same in Spanish as it is in English!
Church in Nebaj, which was being prepared for Holy Week. We went in and made 3 wishes... my dad would be so pleased! Nothing like spreading an Irish custom (3 wishes are allowed each time you go into a church for the first time) to Guatemala.

Guatemalan housing along the road from Guatemala City to Nebaj......

A took took - transportation available for hire in Nebaj and throughout Guatemala

Linda, Kathy and Carla relaxing after a hard days work

Our suitcases were a tad late in arriving, so we washed out a few things... and McGuyver just happened to have a clothes line in his backpack!
Our team mates were very generous in sharing their clothing with us too!

A beautiful Girl in native attire.
I will post more pictures in the coming days... just wanted to get a few up for your viewing pleasure!
The trip was wonderful....we enjoyed all of the people and shared much with everyone we encountered. I hope God smiled as much as all of us did!

Guatemala Bound

We leave tonight at 12:30 a.m., (which I guess is tomorrow) for our adventure in Guatemala. We are a small group this year, but our hope is to give and receive all that we can. This is a store (picture from someone who has been there) in one of the communities we will be working in. We will be working in 2 different communities.
